CLINICAL DRESS CODE
CAREERS IN HEALTH CARE
 
When the Careers In Health Care student is in the Clinical or Special Emphasis Area setting, or at any other time where the classroom uniform is required, the student will be expected to appear professionally dressed. The student agrees to follow the class dress code or will not be allowed to participate in the class/clinical experience.
 
THE DRESS CODE IS AS FOLLOWS:
 
1.       Turquoise and/or Royal Blue color scrub tops with 2 pockets at waist level and matching pants. The uniform must be clean and wrinkle-free. T shirts if worn under scrub tops must be tucked into your pants and white or black in color with no lettering showing.
 
2.       Name Badge/Tag will be worn on the left shoulder. If lost, it will be the student’s responsibility to obtain a new name badge at replacement cost.
 
3.       A wristwatch with a second hand and analog not digital dial.
 
4.       Shoes—clean white leather tennis/work shoes. Any minimal color allowance will be by instructor approval. NO CROCS
 
5.       Crew socks. Preferably white in color.
 
6.       Students must be clean-shaven—no full beards, etc.
 
7.       Hair—must be neatly styled, pulled back from the face, and off the shoulders. NO Long dangling pony tails, braids with beads, or colorful (such as blue, green, multi-color) weaves.
 
8.       Fingernails—MUST BE CLEAN, WELL CARED FOR, AND SHORT! (Sport length fingertips!)  ARTIFICIAL NAILS OR NAIL TIPS. ARE NOT RECOMMENDED FOR SAFETY REASONS; BUT IF WORN SHOULD BE SHORT, LIGHT PINK OR NATURAL IN COLOR, AND FRENCH MANICURES ARE ACCEPTABLE.
 
9.       Jewelry—A. NO Rings or Necklaces will be worn at the clinical sites
   B. Small stud earrings. NO Hoops!
 
10.    For health reasons all visible tattoos will have to be covered with a bandage or clothing; and any facial piercing will have to be covered with a bandage or removed while at the clinical sites. Tongue rings affect your speech and harbor germs. Also, it does not appear professional.
 
11.    Your instructor will determine daily if you have met the clinical attire requirements. Any variance from the above mentioned items will result in loss of points from your clinical grade. Failure to bring uniform items with you on clinical days will result in you staying at the CTC, no clinical hours earned, and a score of ZERO for the day.
 
 
 
NOTE:     When dressed as described above, YOU will have the appearance of a Professional Health
                   Care worker.

Agreement to follow dress code rules:
 
What will happen if I do not follow the dress code recommendations.
 
1. First offense will be a warning from your instructor.
 
2. Repeated offenses will result in a discussion with your instructor and Mrs. Drury, Department Chair, a call to your parents, notification to Mr. Payne, and a possible referral for disobedience of the dress code rules.
 
I understand the above rules and agree to dress according to the Careers in Healthcare Program Dress Code. I understand that if I do not follow the dress code I will not be allowed to participate in the clinical experience, receive a zero, and will lose my clinical hours for the day.
