Culinary Arts
Grades 11, 12, and Adult
2-year program, 3 credits per year, 3 periods per day
Year I
In the first year program students will develop skills within a mini business atmosphere. Students will prepare for careers ranging from bakers, sandwich prep cooks, entree cooks, deli workers and in-front of the house positions. Special interests, such as, cake decorating will be explored. Catering skills will be developed through special events.
Year II
The second year program provides the students with additional training in specific roles of the food service industry. The course is designed for students to develop specialty areas in the food careers. Some students may assume managerial and supervisory roles in the calssroom operation of the mini-restaurant. Students may also participate in internships with local food service businesses.
