Machine Tool Technology
Grades 11, 12, and Adult
2-year program, 3 credits per year, 3 periods per day
 
Year I
This course is designed to prepare students for entry-level manufacturing jobs as a machinist. Students will learn to operate a power saw, drill press, lathe, mill, grinder, and surface grinder. Fabrication work and resurfacing of cutting tools will also be included. Students will also interpret designs, drawings and specifications and analyze quality control data. Students must have an eye for detail and enjoy precision work.

Year II
This course is a continuation of Machine Tool Technology I. Students will also work with computerized numerical control (CNC) machine tool operation and Electric Discharge Machine operation. Students in the second semester of this course will be expected to complete an approved internship.
