About the Program:

The Medication Technician course is designed for Certified Nurse Assistants in nursing homes who want to increase their skills and learn to administer medications. This challenging course meets Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services guidelines. Successful graduates receive state certification in the administration of non-parenteral medication. Practice in administering medications is provided through classroom labs, as well as supervised experience in the student’s facility. Applicants must be Certified Nurse Assistants in Missouri, pass the TABE test (given at The Career & Technology Center), and be a high school graduate or equivalent before the start of the course. Must be active on the Missouri State Registry for six months before class. 

Upon successful completion of this course & the passing of the state examination, the certified medication technician will be qualified to pass medications in any long-term care facility.

Practice in administering medications is provided through classroom labs, as well as supervised experience in the student’s own approved facility.

Applicants must be Certified Nurse Assistants in Missouri employed in an approved training facility, pass the TABE test (given at The Career & Technology Center), and be a high school graduate or equivalent before the start of the course.

How to Apply:

To apply for the CMT program, individuals must:

  • Be a high school graduate or GED

  • Be employed as a CNA (on MO State Registry for six months)

  • Complete an application and a background check
