Community college credit is available. Grades eligible: 11, 12, Adult.

This program is designed to provide knowledge and practical experience in the care and identification of ornamental plants (flowers, trees, and shrubs). Activities include starting plants from seeds and vegetative plant parts, greenhouse operation, drawing landscape plans, floral design, pruning practices, and lawn establishment and care. Upon completion of this program, students may choose to be tested for certification as a Level 1 Missouri Certified Nursery and Landscape Professional. A testing fee is required. Second-year students may specialize in areas such as greenhouse operations, nursery management, landscape maintenance, landscape installations, and floral arrangements. Those students who maintain a ā€œCā€ average or better and a good attendance record may be released for work/study program in the fourth quarter of their second year. Upon completion of this program, students may choose to be tested for certification as an Advanced Level Missouri Certified Nursery and Landscape Professional (A testing fee is required).  

How to Apply

  1. Schedule to take the WorkKeys with the CTC Assessment Office (573.334.0826) and obtain the required scores: 

    • Graphic Literacy- 3

    • Applied Math- 3

    • Workplace Documentation- 3

  2. Complete an application & deposit $100.

  3. Provide proof of HS graduation (or GED).

  4. Submit the background check form.

Monday-Friday

The morning block schedule is from 8:25 a.m. to 10:50 a.m.
The afternoon block schedule is from 12:05 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
